WILMINGTON N.C. – A backside grand slam by Alberto Osuna propelled the Holly Springs Salamanders to a 9-2 win against the Wilmington Sharks Friday night.

History repeated itself as the Salamanders secured a five-run lead in the third inning against the Sharks. Thursday night, Holly Springs had a similar five-run third inning against the South Wake Shakes, which earned them the win in the exhibition game.

With the Sharks down four at the top of the fifth, a pair of doubles by Luke Heefner and Patrick Alvarez cushioned the lead 8-1 against Wilmington, bringing home one run and two runs, respectively.

Pitcher Leo Giannoni struck out the side in the bottom of the fifth, securing the win.

The Sharks scored an unearned run in the seventh, making the score 8-2, but a wild pitch at the top of the ninth sent Eddie Eisert home, giving the Salamanders their final 9-2 margin.

The Salamanders will be back at Ting Park Saturday June 25 at 6:00p.m. hosting the Morehead City Marlins in a doubleheader; tickets are available online at SalamandersBaseball.com
