Wilmington NC –The Holly Springs Salamanders faced the Wilmington Sharks in a double header on Wednesday at Buck Hardee Field. The Sharks gave up a 5 to 1 lead (8-5) in game one but took the win against the Salamanders in game 2 (1-7). 

After an early lead by the Sharks (5-1), the Salamanders got to business in the top of the 4th. A dropped 3rd strike led to Gavin Troutman cutting the lead in half. 

The Sharks responded in the 5th with a wild pitch, leading Conner Denning to score, making it a one-run game (5-6). 

Down to their last three outs, Denning blasted a three-run home run giving the Salamanders the lead (8-6). Pitcher Michael Foltz Jr. delivered in the bottom of the 7th, picking up the win in game one of the night.

The second game started with a throwing error, bringing Nate Carriere in (1-2) at the top of the 2nd. Unfortunately, bats were moving for the Sharks, securing their win (7-1) in game two. 

The Salamanders are returning home to play the Morehead City Marlins Thursday at 7 pm. Gates open at 6 pm and will be Bark in the Park night at Ting Stadium.
