HOLLY SPRINGS, NC-   The Morehead City Marlins speared the Holly Springs Salamanders on Tuesday night by a final score of 15-1.  An 11-run fifth inning from the visiting club was enough to run-rule the Salamanders for the first time this season.

The Marlins started the scoring in the second inning pushing three runs across the plate.  Right fielder, Jack Harris homered to leadoff the inning. Zack Miller and Justin Johnson would also come around to add some early insurance to the Marlins lead.

The lone Holly Springs run came in the bottom of the second from the bat of Cash Young.  Young blasted a shot off the score board to score the only run for the Salamanders.

In the fifth inning, the wheels came off the bus for the Salamander pitching staff.  15 Marlins came to bat in that inning plating 11 runs.  Two home runs, one by Sean Johnson and the other by Jack Harris cleared the safety nets over the left field wall.

The Salamanders could not get any thing else going the rest of the night.  They fall victim to the run-rule for the first time this season.

The winning pitcher from Morehead City was Jonathan Lavallee (Long Beach State) he improves to 2-0 on the season, while Will Sandy receives his first loss, 0-1.

The Salamanders will take a well needed rest day on Wednesday, before travelling to Wilmington to take on the Sharks on Thursday for a double header.  Both games will be 7-inning contests starting at 5:00p.m.  You catch the action as always on flobaseball.tv
