HOLLY SPRINGS, NC – The Coastal Plain League and its member teams have made the decision to delay the start of the 2020 season until July 1. The league has been closely monitoring the COVID-19 announcements of the federal, state and local authorities in North Carolina, Virginia, South Carolina and Georgia, and have revised the season schedule to allow the teams and host cities to properly prepare for the season. Pending local government guidance, teams may begin to gather in mid-June with the opportunity to play exhibition games prior to the season’s start.

As a result of the adjustments the league has taken to make this season possible, the Salamander’s home schedule has been reduced to 21 games. The 2020 Coastal Plain League All-Star Game, originally scheduled to be held at Ting Stadium, has been cancelled. Stadium seating capacity will also be reduced to ensure all state and federal requirements for social distancing and large gatherings are met.

“We could not be more excited for a baseball season this summer,” said General Manager Chip Hutchinson. “We will be doing everything within our power to make sure Ting Stadium is a safe place for all fans, players and staff to visit and the Salamanders look forward to helping our community return to a sense of normal.”
