HOLLY SPRINGS, NC – Cody Muncy played hero for the Holly Springs Salamanders on Friday night, as they win over the Tri-City Chili Peppers in extra innings 4-3.  Muncy’s two-run blast out of yard is the Salamanders second walk-off home run of the season.  They improve to 2-1 on the second half and 15-10 overall on the CPL season.

The Chili Peppers got the scoring going in the top of third.  Leadoff man Wilson Galvan doubled to score Jack Capobianco for the first run of the game.  Galvan would finish the night 3-5 with two RBIs and a stolen base.

The Salamanders answered the one-run deficit in the bottom of the fourth.  Logan Gitter, making his Salamander debut, advanced to first on a catcher interference call from the home plate umpire.  Shortstop Tanner Roach would drive in the unearned with a single.

Thanks to great pitching on both sides, the time of game went quickly, both teams combined for 20 strikeouts.  Through nine innings of baseball, we were knotted at 1-1.

In the 10th it was the Chili Peppers who were able to score two runs with one out to take a 3-1 over Holly Springs.  Hunter Stevens recorded all three outs against Tri-City by the way of strikes.  Holly Springs needed two runs to tie, three to win.

After a pair of Sacrifices, one bunt and flyout, the ‘Manders found themselves down 3-2 with two outs, with Cody Muncy coming to the plate.  Muncy had singled back in second inning with two outs, but this time the game was one the line.  Facing-off with Evan Chenier from Tri-City, and down to his last strike, Muncy tattooed a ball over the left-center wall and sent the fans home happy.

Holly Springs wins off a Muncy two-run walk-off in the 10th inning.  Chenier is tagged with the loss (0-1), even though he only allowed one earned run and Stevens picks up his first win of the season (1-0-6).  The Salamanders return to action tomorrow night as they face-off with the Wilson Tobs on the road, you can catch the action on flobaseball.tv
