Martinville VA –The Holly Springs Salamanders dominate the Martinsville Mustangs with a score of 16-1.
The game began with Brett Callahan starting the show with a base hit leading the Salamanders to score four runs. Going to the bottom of the 1st, Sam Peddycord’s pitching lead to a big double play shutting down the inning (4-0).
Heading to the second inning, Nate Carriere scores (5-0), and a line drive for Callahan leads to a pitching change for the Mustangs.
The star of the game, third baseman Jack Oberdorf, doesn’t allow the Mustangs on base in the bottom of the third. Making for another pitching change for the top of the 4th for the Mustangs. Bats stayed awake for the Salamanders, and a Matt McDade hit brought in Robert Brooks ( 9-0).
With the Mustangs scoreless in the 5th, Oberdorf nails the ball down the left-field line, bringing in Carriere and Callahan (11-0). The bottom of the 5th led the Mustangs to get one run on two hits.
The Salamanders grab five runs in the top of the 8th, with Callahan hitting a three run homer (16-1). The Salamander shut the Mustangs down in the 8th, making that the ball game.
The Salamanders return home on the 8th, taking on the High Point Thomasville HiToms at 7 pm.
