The Salamanders took a loss against the Wilson Tobs Thursday night with a final score of 2-3.

Things started to heat up in the bottom of the second inning as Tobs player Aaron Smigelski hit a two-run blast, also scoring Tre Jones who reached on an RBI single. Jacob McCaskey and Efry Cervantes both hit singles, leaving the Tobs with two runs, four hits, and no errors. Davis Meche of the Salamanders canned the Tobs at home, preventing them from scoring another run.

Nate Carriere earned the Salamanders their first run of the night after reaching on a single in the top of the fourth and scoring on a dropped third strike. The Tobs held their lead, however, when Efry Cervantes scored at the bottom of the fourth after a string of hits.

Winning pitcher for the Tobs Shane Rademacher, struck out the side in the top of the fifth stunting any Salamander rally. Rademacher only allowed one hit during his seven innings pitched. Two diving catches by the Salamander’s Will Stewart ended the inning.

Bat’s didn’t come fully alive at the top of the sixth and the Salamanders stayed two run’s behind the Tobs. Scott Mackiewicz hit an RBI double at the bottom of the sixth for Wilson, but was caught stealing third which left the Tobs with one hit, no runs, and no errors.

Holly Springs gained some momentum after a double play by Wyatt Nelson at the bottom of the seventh, and an RBI single by Reed Stallman at the eighth made the score 2-3. It still was not enough to top the Tobs, who walked away with the win.

The Salamanders will continue their series at home Friday at 7:00pm against the South Wake Shakes.
