HOLLY SPRINGS, NC– The Salamanders defeated the South Wake Shakes by a final score of 14-1. The Salamanders scored in every inning except the third. Shakes batter Jax Cash homered in the 2nd for the lone South Wake run of the contest.
The scoring began in the first inning with the Salamanders plating three runs on one hit. The Shakes committed two errors in the bottom half that lead to all three runs going unearned against starter, Cody Acosta. Caden Miller, Cody Muncy, and Ryan Wilson came across to start the game in favor of the Sals’ 3-0.
Left-handed pitcher Ryan Peterson went for the first two innings only allowing one run on two hits. He struck out in the second inning.
The floodgates opened and the Shakes were washed away in the fourth, fifth, and six innings. A combined 10 runs in those three innings chased multiple Shakes pitchers from the game.
The stat of the night however, was that four Salamander pitchers combined to strike out the last 10 Shakes batters. Daniel Brown, Davis Palmero, Alex Barber and Hunter Stevens fanned a unofficial record 10 straight.
The Salamanders return to action on Father’s Day at 5:40 as they will take on the Shakes once again. You can catch all the action on flobaseball.tv
