HOLLY SPRINGS, NC – Marek Chlup (North Greenville) was named the CPL’s Trackman Baseball Hitter of the Week for week two. Chlup in the seven-day stretch batted an astonishing .426 in his 13 at-bats. In the outfielders six games played, he has tallied three homeruns, two triples, two doubles, and a lone single.
The Czech Republic native homered twice to score the only runs in a 2-1 contest over the Peninsula Pilots. Chlup has three multi-hit games already on the young season. He has only been held hitless in one game in Coastal Plain League and is among league leaders in multiple categories.
The current North Greenville Crusader is now tied for a league high three homeruns and holds a spot in the top 10 for batting average at .400 through the Salamanders first 12 games. Chlup was among the team leaders for North Greenville going 45-158 through the season. He finished with an average of .323 and bolted 12 homeruns in
Chlup is the first Salamander to be named for either Hitter or Pitcher of the Week this season. He is the first Holly Springs batter to win the award since Peyton Isaacson did in week nine of the 2018 season.
Chlup looks to continue his hot streak as the battle for first place tightens with less than two weeks till the first half winner is announced on June 27. Chlup has played a monumental factor in the Salamander success, leading the team to a 9-3 record through the first 12 games.
