HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C.- The Peninsula Pilots could not catch up with an early Salamanders lead in the bottom of the first after an explosive three run homer from Nolan Watson.

Nolan Watson (Dayton), in his first pitch of the season, hit a home run with two men on to bring the Salamanders score to 4-0 after a Carlos Pena (Missouri) RBI in the bottom of the first. Holly Springs (9-11) would not lose the lead and take the victory over Peninsula (4-12).

Peyton Burton (W, 1-1, Columbus State) earned the win tonight for the Salamanders after pitching 3.2 innings allowing only one hit and striking out four.

The Salamanders will be back at Ting Stadium tomorrow night, June 24 to play the South Wake Shakes in an exhibition game before they hit the road next week.
