HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C.- The Salamanders took another victory tonight in a 7-1 win over the Peninsula Pilots that will advance them on a five game winning streak.
Holly Springs (7-10) took an early lead in the bottom of the second after three runs scored by Carlos Pena (Missouri), Ryan Picollo (St. Joseph’s), and Ben Lumsden (UT Arlington). Peninsula (3-11) would not come back after that early lead from the Salamanders.
Jacob Coffin would earn the win for the Salamanders pitching one inning, allowing one hit and one strikeout.
The Salamanders will face the Pilots again tomorrow night, June 21, in Peninsula, and then will be back at Ting Stadium for a weekend stretch in Holly Springs playing Wilson, Peninsula, and the South Wake Shakes in an exhibition game on Sunday.
