HOLLY SPRINGS N.C.- The Salamanders continue their winning streak after a 9-5 victory over the Asheboro Zookeepers in what was a five-run lead in the bottom of the first for Holly Springs.
Holly Springs (6-10) took an early lead over Asheboro (3-7) in the bottom of the first after a Ryan Picollo (St. Joseph’s) grand slam. The Zookeepers would not catch up with the Salamanders momentum and would fall, 9-5.
Austin Fine picks up the loss after pitching 1.2 innings, allowing six hits, three runs, and walking three.
Leo Gianonni (W, 1-0, Columbus State) would earn the victory for Holly Springs after pitching 2.2 innings allowing no hits, no runs, and striking out four.
The Salamanders are back at Ting Stadium on Wednesday, June 21 for Star Wars Night and are looking to keep their win streak alive as they will face the Peninsula Pilots.
