HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C.- The Salamanders extend their winning streak to three as they took a victory over the Martinsville Mustangs last night in a 12-8 win.
Some standout Salamanders including Henry Koehler (Davidson), Josh Kross (Cincinnati), and Ryan Picollo (St. Joseph’s) helped Holly Springs soar to another victory in Ting Stadium.
Right after Johnboy Rittenhouse and the Martinsville Mustangs (2-5/11-17) hit a grand slam in the third inning that gave them a lead, four runs in the bottom of the fifth were scored from the Salamanders (4-3/16-16) and sealed the win as the team never looked back.
Matthew Driver earned the winning pitcher title as he went 3.2 innings with two hits, one run, and one strikeout.
Holly Springs will travel to High Point-Thomasville tomorrow to face the Hi-Toms in an attempt to take the lead in the East as they are half a game back.
